About Code Enforcement

The Salinas Code Enforcement Division is tasked with promoting a safe and blight-free community. We achieve this by addressing substandard housing, dangerous buildings, unauthorized land and building uses, zoning violations, and other Health and Safety Code violation. To ensure compliance, we follow the California Building Codes, Salinas Zoning Codes, International Property Maintenance Code, and other City and State regulations. Code Enforcement is an essential tool for crime prevention embracing Compliance Through Education and Outreach.

Accomplishments

Worked with Legal Department to increase the number of distressed and dangerous properties in receivership.
Coordinated with Police Department to create a comprehensive program response to vehicle violations within the public's right of way.
Coordinated with Engineering and Planning to restructure vendor permitting and enforcement program.
