Senior's Utility User Tax Exemption

Seniors living in the city limits of Salinas, California are eligible for a tax break on some of their utility bills. The five to six percent utility users tax (UUT) is levied on telecommunications, gas, water and some TV services. Salinas residents aged 65 or higher are exempt from paying it.

To apply for the exemption:

  • Download the short application form, linked below
  • Fill in the form and then and print it
  • Mail or deliver the form and a copy of one recent utility bill to the City Finance Department (our contact info is on the form).
