City Manager
The Administration Department provides external and internal support services for a number of essential functions related to the management operations of city government. Under the direction of the City Manager's Office, these functions include: logistical support for the Mayor and Council, recording, archiving of the City's official records, and Human Resources. The Office of the City Manager is responsible for the management of the Salinas Municipal Corporation consistent with the policy direction established by the City Council and California Law.

The City of Salinas’ Strategic Plan represents the vision of the Mayor and City Council. This document serves as a roadmap to align policies, projects and initiatives with this vision. City of Salinas Achieves Prestigious What Works Cities Certification

Salinas is thrilled to be recognized by What Works Cities as one of the first 50 cities in the country to be Certified for our investment in data and transparency as part of our decision-making processes across the city. We look forward to building on this achievement moving forward, to continue making a positive impact on the lives of our residents. As of December 2021 only 50 cities have achieved Certification. Based on staff size and annual budget, the City of Salinas is one of the smallest cities to achieve certification.

The City of Salinas Has Earned a Beacon Spotlight Award

The City of Salinas has been selected by the Institute of Local Government, as one of the 2020 Beacon Spotlight Award winners. The award recognizes local governments that voluntarily take action to address climate change, promote energy innovation, and create sustainable communities. The City of Salinas will be receiving awards for recognition based on the Platinum Level Award for 22% Community Greenhouse Gas Reductions and the Silver Level Award for Sustainability Best Practices. Community Testing Sites - Open to All Monterey County Residents Sitios de pruebas comunitarias: abiertos a todos los residentes del condado de Monterey

COVID-19 Community Testing is now available to all Monterey County Residents. Testing is available with an appointment at Alisal High School and the Greenfield Branch Library. There is no need to worry about cost, insurance can be used for those with coverage. For those without coverage, the State will cover the full cost of testing. City of Salinas Releases Its First Performance Management Report Cards

We are so excited to start sharing materials from the City’s Performance Management program, Salinas Stat.
In early 2020, staff began its Performance Management work at the City. The City’s Innovation team under the direction of the City Manager, has been charged with helping departments dive deep into the underlying challenges that prevent them from meeting their objectives. City Staff to Participate in Race Equity Training

Over forty City of Salinas staff representing all departments have registered to participate in a five-part virtual learning series designed to provide a space for government institutions and community leaders to form a shared understanding of racism.

On Friday, January 24th, over one hundred violence prevention professionals from across Monterey County gathered at the Oldemeyer Center in Seaside, CA to hear the stories of juvenile justice systems involved youth and their families. They all came together for the third annual Monterey County My Life Story conference organized by the City of Salinas Community Safety and Recreation Divisions, the City of Seaside, California Youth Outreach and County of Monterey.
